What sound deadening material is there that isn't in the firewall? I don't want to mess with the firewall. Also will removing the back seat carpet and most of the palstic interior really dso much for weight reduction?

take out the lower part of the airbox that is in the front bumper in front of the front right side wheel, then cut the bottom of the airbox to allow more airflow

The sound-deadening tar throughout the entire interior is ~25 lbs. The firewall matting is another ~10 lbs.

who cares. You don't buy a Prelude and want to modify it to be fast without purchasing parts. Otherwise known as you can't make a car go noticably fast without buying parts. where's that hammer icon.

Yeah only do that if you don't mind excessive noise, I did and there is a hell of a lot of noise, but I don't really care .

keep your oil level at about a quart, maybe two at max. You have a 5th gen and you're going to burn it anyhow, so just lower the amount to start with to save the weight.

you can hollow out your cat. but it will turn your check engine light on no biggy though. also take your power steering belt off it only takes like 2 mins to take off and put back on. take the filter out of the intake but only when racing. im sure they're are more but these are all noticable hp gaining freemods on a stock lude.

it's no biggy until you can't hit vtec because you're in limp mode...

I can't believe that people haven't figured out yet that 9 times out of 10 hollowing out your cat is detrimental to performance. When you hollow it out, shards of catalyst are often left in there, distrupting exhaust flow more than the catalyst did when it was whole. This is bad.

I know you don't want to spend money, but a test pipe is cheap and effective...as long as you don't live in a CA emissions state.

Good cost free suggestions so far:

Airbox mod
Or for cheap, make a dryer hose intake
Removal of sound deadening
Removal of power steering
If you don't mind not having AC, remove the belt for the AC compressor
If you're at the track, lower your psi in your tires.
Uhh...get a job

i hollowed my cat out with a crow bar(lol) like 30,000 miles ago. it was one of the first things i did and i gained plenty of hp from it and haven't had any problems. it was free and worked for me. but i guess i was the lucky 1 out of 10. you can see if thier is anything left in there just make sure to get it all out its not hard. it sounds nice with a muffler too. it sounds better than my friends 500 dollar full exhaust on his lude anyways. oh yeah and you'll be cought shooting flames every now-and-then. i was so suprised when my friends were telling me i was shooting flames when i got on it. they all had hollowed cats and i was the only one to be doing it. i dunno why but i haven't in a while.

V-Tec uses oil pressure to work. If you have to little oil it wont activate. How would that make you faster?

Take off all your body panels, trunk, bumpers, sunroof, and replace with cardboard and duct-tape, and replace your windows with saran-wrap...

Run 14inch rims, Use race-fuel always, remove all piping after the cat to get power without going into limp mode, it sounds real good too!

and do what they said about sound-proofing material.. take out all the seats but the driver, and then remove the back of the driver seat too.. you only need to hold onto the steering wheel anyway, who needs the back of the seat. take out your speakers and most of the dash vinyl too...

Make sure to tear out your PS, AC, wipers (you won't need them on the saran anyway), and wiper fluid tank.

Remove your rear rotors and brake assembly, you only need the fronts anyway, and you are gonna run 13s all day long!

BOARD? That is for surfing?

Those are my secrets.. Any good shop can do them on any 5 gen. for about one G.
