Selling Out?
I'm thinking of selling the Type R. I don't get to drive it much and would probably be better off with an S2K.
I really thought I would keep the car for many more years, but it's become impractical to take to the store, work, mall, movies..... Too many vandels and theives out there.
Any thoughts?

What good is it if I can't enjoy it? I have it for 4 yrs and it only has 13K on it. I don't have enough time to get the track like I used to so I would like something I can enjoy daily.
Most people I know have been at least vandeled.

You know exactly what you want to do... just do it. No point in asking us not to do it, if you have made up your mind. S2k is a good car, but it's a convertible. I personally would never enjoy a convertible, so I would never get one. If they made a hardtop coupe, then I would buy it.

i think this thread is funny because for the last week i have been planning the EXACT same thing. im goin to rutgers, and the R is not going with me. im gonna sell it and buy and s2k or trade for an s2k plus money or whatever. its a better car to have because u can leave it places and know that there is a .000000001 percent chance that it will be gone when u get back. i never leave the R anywhere, and im a paranoid mess and look foolish to other people that see how i am with the car. i think that the R to S2K is a good transition. (if anyone has an s2k and wants a NBP R with 19200 miles on it 2001 MINOR body scrapes and dings, perfect engine and interior, let me know asap) (bone stock, 10 cd changer, aftermarket speakers)

I used to not desire convertibles. After owning my s2k for about 3 months now, i can honestly say that some of you are missing out. Maybe the SoCal weather has something to do with that though
Even then, top down on a cool night with the heater on is an absolute pleasure.
If you can sacrifice convenience, go for the S2k.

true. I love the s2k, but convertibles just aren't for me. Love targa tops though
It's kinda sad that people consider selling such a great car as an R because of theft, but I can understand where he's coming from.

<mikehonda_voice>OH YEAH!</mikehonda_voice>
yeah if they ever build a hard top s2k, i would seriously trade in my car immediately! damn, i still have dreams about getting the current one.
kepani-who'd be real poor aftah dat...
back OT:
get the s2k if theft keeps you from enjoying the car! but i don't think i'd be alone in wondering if you've been able to fully experience the car after 13k. your car just got "broken in".

how can you enjoy a car that you are afraid to leave anywhere
. If the car is completly stock , im sure if it gets stolen you will not have any problems with the insurance paying for it. But if you have mods on the car (which some insurance dont cover ) then you will see your money dissapear ... If you plan to mod the car or not to worry to where you can take it ( see no joy on that ) then get the S2k and enjoy the hardtop (don't understand the big deal with that ) specially in Cali ....

I put 10k the first year, mostly track time.

I'm in the same boat. I have not been driving the car as much as I thought I would. I only have a few more quarters of school left and I'm currently looking for an internship. What this boils down to is that I no longer have the luxury to pick and choose where I take my car. Extra time is becoming increasingly difficult to find. I simply do not have the time to take the necessary precautions that will prevent this car from being stolen.
Although I'm still undecided, I've been shopping around for S2K's for the past month. I completely understand where you're coming from and I wouldn't blame you if you ended up selling it for that reason.
