Default Need to replace my engine

I need to do an engine swap as I blew my motor this weekend. I have been looking around the web all weekend and am unsure of who is reputable company to buy from. I am also unsure of what motor to go with. I have a 91 CRX Si and was thinking about going with a D15B VTEC. It will give me an increase in horsepower and seems to be a reasonably priced engine.

Here is the site I am thinking about buying from, http://www.totaljdm.com/?id=98704. Does anyone have any thoughts on either topic? Anybody ever bought from this company? Thanks

i heard that http://www.ajeo.com was a good company to deal with. i've never done business with them though, they do have A LOT of different engines for all sorts of cars. http://www.benbuilt4u.com sells them cheap. and here's something of honda society lots of posts on where ppl got their engines http://board.hondasociety.com/...68253

I am not exactly sure what my budget is, but would say somewhere under 1K for the engine.

That price is a little high I think. For the west coast, everyone says fairly good things about http://www.hmotorsonline.com/. I found this guy on E-bay on the east coast http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...37764 The E-bay guy has good feedback and has a 6 month warranty. I'm planning on getting one of these from him the end of the month.

As side from that, to run that motor properly, you should convert to OBD1... which adds the cost of a Conversion Harness ($150 - Blown90hatcH on this board) and a P28 or P08 ECU. Otherwise you need some way to activate VTEC... Either a RPM switch or a VTEC Controller.

The "no mod" JDM replacement motor is the SOHC ZC. It doesn't have VTEC, so it can be run from your current PM6 ECU without any extra goodies.

http://www.hmotorsonline.com/ seems to be good on price, thanks for the info. TotalJDM's price is higher but comes with the tranny and ECU. I don't really need the tranny though so that is a little overkill. I should be able to use my stock 91 CRX Si tranny with the D15B.

I am curious though as to what the advantages of the hrydro tranny would be with the D15B. Anyone know?

Ooppsss.... Forgot to mention that. You can't use the Hydro tranny, the mounts are different, so you have to use your SI tranny anyways.

How did you blow your engine?

My suggestion is to find a $100 A6 (I have 3 I got for free in my garage),

Send the head to exospeed and get this.

Stage 1
Full Valvetrain Upgrade. Isky Titanium Retainers and with
performance valve springs. 3-angle valve job as well as
hot tank, new valve seals and resurfacing the head.
9000 RPM Ready!
Core Required

D16A6: $750.00

When they resurface have them take off .040 and up the compression a bit. Then spend another 170 and get the SR909 A6 cam...

Excellent with our head package.
Our most popular D16A6 cam upgrade.
-- idles slightly higher than stock but stable
-- powerban: 2500 to 7800 RPM
-- gas mileage: slightly less than stock
-- HP increase with bolt-ons: up to 10HP to the wheels

$200.00 with core exchange

Puts you $50 over the 1K limit, but you would have a D series that would RAPE 95% of the B-series swaps out there.

What are your thoughts on the two engine/links below? Will I need new ECU and wiring harness with them?

Thanks

I blew the engine driving down the highway, not really sure why.
