I have a friend who will give me his ITR headunit but I have no clue how to deal with the wiring.

Anyone have tips or already made harnesses?

 

Get the harness off ebay that plugs into the back. I think they go for like $5. Then just wire it up from there.

EDIT: The harnes will probley come labeled or with instuctions of what color goes to what.

 

Does that mean I would have to cut the stock harness? Does anyone make a plug and play one?

 

Yeah just cut the stock harness. Just leave some room to wire it back up if you ever want to go back.

 

I want to avoid cutting the stock harness.

Basically want to get something liek a obdII -> OBDI conversion harness look.

 

i don't know of anyone that makes a harness like that for just the radio. Best bet would be to buy a wiring harness off e-bay and then just get the diagram for the radio wiring, and start matching them up. Good luck on it, i would really like to see what this looks like

don't cut your factory radio harness...basically go buy an adapter harness (aftermarket) that plug into your stock plug anf then from there jsut match up the wires to wires..power to power on the ITR harness/ ground/ speakers/etc...
i don;t that before it simple..you can even make you own adapter plug if you have time. try to avoid cutting the stock radio plug if possible..i likek my car to retain stock.

 

umm, i think you guys are completely missing the point. it will plug right into your CRX. i have a 00 GS-R cd head unit in my 90 Std hatch and it plugged right in. the 94-01 integras all use the same radio plug, which is different than the newer 99-00 civics , s2k head units, etc...

it just plugs in.

It may plug right in, but are the wires in the same spots? 12 Volt Constant Power, 12 volt ignition, ground, speakers, dimmer, etc...?

 

my crx came with a civic radio... the wiring was different and the previous owner cut the original harness off.....he told me he was a professional radio installer HAHAH... anyways its not hard to install radios. if you have to cut the original harness off its cool as long as you wire in his harness to yours. just make sure you use good solid connectors and if you need to electrical tape. make sure you leave plenty of wire room on your original harness incase you need to wire it back in. always leave yourself about 2 inches of play room.

all in all i hope its plug and play because i would like to have an OEM radio again. let us know how it works out.

yes, the pinouts are the same for all 88-95 civics and 94-01 integras. unless his harness has been re-pinned from how it came from the factory then he should be fine, and the head unit will work just fine.

 

haha. i think all 89-200 civic's and 94-01 integs all have the same plugs.

 

I'm going to try it out right now. I'll let you guys know.

 

PLUG AND PLAY

I installed the thing in less than a minute minus the time it took to walk to the car.

Simple plug and play and works perfectly! It's nice to finally have a cd player in the car now.

The stock radio is pretty coo looking too, has a built in 10A fuse.

 

Tight! I think I will go shopping at the junk yard tomorrow. Fat chance! Nevermind, I am sure there won't be any CD players available there. Ebay here I come!
