Ported head and lost hp! WTF!!!!!!!!!!
I finally got my head ported along with 1 mm oversized stainless valves today. I figured with the huge port and oversize valves I would gain considerable hp, but on the way home the butt dyno felt much slower than when my head was stock! WTF! What could the problem be? All I know is that when you spend $800 on your motor you expect it to be faster than before. Thanks in advance
you have to retune. That head flows a lot better now. You gotta add more fuel to it. You can do that by either raising fuel pressure and/or using a vafc and/or getting bigger injectors.
Umm who did your headwork just curious.... Usually when I slapped a ported head I got some nominal gains, more after tuning. I never lost hp.
List your setup maybe I can help you out.

uhh just because you port your head - it dosen't automatically make it faster. There are a lot of GOOD ways to **** up a port job too! Mainly you want too look at your compression, cams, intake and exhaust manifolds. You haven't even put it on the dyno have you? common - you know better than that!
I have 2 motors: a fully built LS/VTEC 315 whp look at signature
My other motor is my steet set-up(motor I am writing about now) is a 98 LS with Eagle rods, micropolished crank and .20 over JE 11:5:1 pistons, Crower 62404 with Crower valvetrain , Walbro 255 lph fuel pump and STR fuel rail with remapped ECU, there's more but the list is long and I am still bitter about my head. I have not dynoed the car yet so at this point it is all speculation, it just feels slower....much slower
My previous motor was an all motor LS putting down 187 WHP and I used stock injectors in that with no problems . I called Crower and Briansaid the valves should be set at 6 and 8, which I did, so at this point I am not sure whats going on

Before when I would punch it, the car would take off! Tonight when I punched it, it lagged and didn't take off like before. I have not thrown a cel, but at idle the car is stalling like crazy
well you have allowed much more air into the mix by doing the head porting work... and now you have to add more fuel to make the best of it.
Yep, the mod is only half done Halo!

Has anyone heard anything about the Accel fuel injectors on sale at JC Whitney? What is the stock LS injector flow rate? 15lb ?

2 brothers who own a shop in Orange County, CA. They have been doing this for 15 years and they have always done CLEAN work. I am convinced that their is something going on with 1)my injectors 2)ecu program 3)simple oversight ro not plugging something up correctly
LS with 187whp? OMG!!!!!!
Is that your current setup or it was a whole other setup? What did that car run?

I haven't checked the timing yet, I hope that's all that is wrong with it! I will look at the plugs in the morning also
