Curpier Motorsport HC Weekend Review
We're finally home
, after the 18 hour drive from CMP. Overall, it was a great weekend for us. Always great to visit with all the HC drivers.
We left this past Wednesday for the event. Arrived at P1 Automotive for some dyno tuning. Thanks again Jack for the great service!!! The Civic runs amazing. He was even nice enough to treat us "Yanks" to some Bojangles Fried Chicken
On Satuday, Pete qualified second, just a tad bit off of Corey's time. I was also second in class to Jason F. The race was real exciting. I was able to get by Jason on the start because he went off in turn one. I held the lead for about a lap-1/2 , until he got by me in turn 1. I kept up with him, but he had too much for me on Sat. Congrats Jason! Pete and Corey battled on Sat., exchanging postitions several times. But in the end, Pete took the win
, setting a new CMP H1 Lap record
We both ran the new 710's on Sat. Pete had a tire fall apart after the first practice session
R&D, was nice enough to give us a tire to swap. The tires have great grip IMO, but obviously Kuhmo has some major issues to solve.
On Sunday, I again qualified second behind Jason, only a few tenths back. Pete was third in class behind Warren & John W. During the race, I was able to get by Jason on lap 2 and pull a quite a large lead. Honestly, that was probably the best race I have ever driven ... I was in the "Zone." However, with two laps to go, the engine let go .... from the initial lookover, it appears that a retainer cracked
. We'll be going through the engine this week. My right front 710 also came apart on lap 7 (see the pic in the other thread). Pete finished up second in class
. He switched to the Ecsta's for Sunday's race ... a set from last year. The grip difference was quite large.
Thanks again to P1 Automotive, R&D, and Bob Woodman Tire (for staying late to change tires for us)

Adam-
That was so much fun this weekend. Seriously, I could have sworn you broke the lap record on Sunday yourself. You were unbelievably fast. Good job, and sorry to hear about the engine. I couldn't believe it when I saw you off at 1

Thanks! Good news about the engine too. The bottom end is in great shape. Just going to swap in some new pistons. The head needs a little bit of work, but it's not a huge deal.
