problems with a 91 civic dx.
Guys, my gf has a 1991 civic dx and the thing keeps stalling. it will start but as soon as you put your foot on the gas it stalls.. anyone have any ideas? i was thinking maybe the fuel pump was goin out? it does have 110k on it.
The exact symptoms of a fuel pressure problem..
In 12 years, I've only replaced one(aftermarket,of course) Fuel pump in the 88-91 series Civics, these things don't go bad..
First step is to replace the Main fuel filter located underneath the car by the drivers side rear quarter panel and replace it..
Second step is to take a fuel pressure reading along with a fuel sample to inspect the quality of fuel...
BTW..Never trust the fuel gauge and make sure you have enuff fuel in the tank!

I have only seen 1 bad HONDA fuel pump on 88 and up civics- it was noisy!
The fuel filter is actually located on the fire wall in the engine bay on the passenger side next to the charcoal canister.
Does it do this hot and cold?
Does it do it all the time?
If you slowly push the gas pedal can you rev it?

I actually got it to run good enough to drive it out of the intersection(where it stalled when my gf was driving it.) what i did was when i started it i kept my foot on the gas a bit(was still in park) and when i saw the engine temp was warm i put it in drive and drove it to my apt. although it was real jerky. IT took me a long time to do this though cause usually when i put my foot on the gas pedal it just stalled.
