like the title says...got quoted little more than $600 for a new compustar 2WFMR alarm system/keyless entry/remote starter on my teg. i was just wondering if this is reasonable?? it seems hight to me. anyone know where i can get a better deal on this system installed anywhere in VA or NC...preferrably an authorized dealer. thanks in advance

These days a high end alarm shouldn't cost you more than $300.

well the installation is what hurts on the compustars. they say they are a biatch to install on honda vehicles so they rape you on the install price

i wanted to know the same thing so i asked him what the price was for the system and the price for the installation and he really wouldnt give me an answer. he just acted like it was a "package deal" or whatever so i dont know. i know the authorized dealers only sell systems like that (system and installation) but it seems like he could have given me at least an estimate on the price for each...who knows

that is the same price as here local. The compustar alarm takes a HELL of a lot longer to install than say .. the older viper 300 alarms ... my friend that was installer could do a viper alarm in 30 - 45 min ... pretty clean install too ... he said the Compustar took about 6 hours for him to do.

well i asked him if i found a cheaper price on the system if i could just get them to install it and he said absolutely not. they only sell them with installation. i could easily get a good price on ebay for just the system...but they are sketchy. sometimes wrong components are included or components missing...plus, if you dont buy it from an authorized dealer and have an authorized dealer install it, it voids the compustar warranty..which sux

6hrs? damn depends on what they are doing, at my old work we would do then 2wfmr in your car with kelyless, domelight supervision, hood&trunk pinned and everything else u stated for 450 5spd was an additonal 25 dollars , install should take no more than 2-3 hours done right price is kinda high , but i depends on where you are , i was getting 450 up in boston , **** donw here in florida 1 outta 20 people might pay that much for an alarm

Wow, that's kinda pricey, especially for just the 2WFM system.

My 2WSS system, installed with remote start was $550. I sat in their waiting room, watching football on their huge big screen tv, and by the end of the game the installer in and told me it was done. So about 2 hours in total. He also went through and showed me everything he did like where he mounted everything, showed me how the many features of the LCD remote, and the "hidden" things that I asked him to add on. (paid him an extra $50 on the side for that one)

Contact Compustar for other dealers around your area.

$600 is way to much for an 2wfm... they usually get installed for 400.00-450 and the 2wss usually get installed for 500-550 with an authorized dealer. keep searching around your area, you'll find a better deal.

That sounds right for RETAIL!!! get it wholesale on ebay or some **** and see if you know someone that will install it...

Those are complicated systems anyways... So i can see why they would quote that if it included Installation

I see this a lot from customers "that way to much to install XYZ "...
With the advent of the internet, peeps have become more savvy shoppers..
or have they? With many products...it can live or die by the installation.
There are many installers who take pride in what they do...that work is a
reflection of them. That installer may take the xtra needed steps to
make the vehicle and the alarm more secure than the next guy. The customer
just thinks "a spade is a spade" and that everyone does it the same. IE:
the guy down the road has "free install" on a radio while you charge
$50...WTF . Now what you may not be aware of is the "Free
Install" guy...he doesnt stock adaptor harness or many kits,so to compensate
the oem harness is hacked and twisted and taped together...an abs trim piece is
cut to fit you dash and hot gluded in place, while thr radio was duct taped to
wood blocks and wedged in the dash. ( not pretty is it... ). Now I ask you
would you like a radio installed like this? Prob not....Look customers are only
going to spend what they percieve is the value associated with it. Try to
keep that in mind when your item does not work as planned.

Cheers

Why would it be longer to install the compustar on a Honda/Acura than any other cars? I find Honda's to be an easy install. I installed a Compustar alarm on my Acura Vigor in under 2 hours. I also installed one in my friends Acura TL in just over 2 hours because I had to bypass the RF security key.

$500 for installation of a 2WSS from an authorized dealer sounds right.
