That shouldn't be that big of a shock (that they might release a four door ITR).
There has been a four door 97(?) to 01 JDM ITR model.

The picture in your link is not a Honda prototype product. It is a Mazda. That yellow 4 door in the picture is the new "Mazda 6". It replaces the "Mazda 626" sedan. It will be FWD with the choice of a 150hp 2.3l 4cyl or a 219hp 3.0l 6cyl in the US. Both will be offered with a 5spd option.

There is a picture and info on the Mazda 6 in this week's Motorweek magazine.
