Newbie question - dual bend Short shifter

ok which way should it go? should the shifter knob be closer to the front of the car or closer to me?

huh? everyone avoided the question...LOL...the shift **** should be closer to you...meaning the bends are TOWARD the back.

So my shifts to second gear should be shorter?
