Places to mount the V-AFC?
I'm might be thinking of getting a V-AFC but can't think of anywhere to mount it that will not stand out. The only place I can think of is the glovebox but i want to use that place to put my stuff in it. Is it possible to mount it below the radio? How about a black cover on it so that people cannot see it. Thanks.
How about this - it's an idea I came up with to keep the car totally stealth, and if I was ever going to get a VAFC this is where I would put it. Get the JDM sunglass holder that attaches to the rear-view mirror mount, then stick the VAFC in one of the sunglass compartments. I obviously have not done it, but I asked someone way smarter than me (Mike at IPS Racing) if it would work and he said everything would work just fine including the wiring. Not to mention it would only be seen when you needed it.
Flush mount it where the ashtray is. It fits with very very very little modifications. It's also stealth there too. It's very had to see.
I had the Fields controller, It mounts in the tray below the cd player and doesn't look bad. It is smaller than the apexi and it has a shift chime built in.

Thats a perfect idea! Which part of the sunglass holder would it mount to? The first opening or the second?
I know in the pat disucussion reagrding where to place there were to very good pictures of high Quality Installs. One of them was put in place of the stock clock that is up on the dash. That would be nice because you could probably still use the JDM clock cover when it wasn't necessary to see the display. A couple of other people have mounted in on the Passenger side visor in place of the mirror. Believe it or not with the visor up you could not even tell it was there.
I have also seen it cut into the dash, but I don't think many people would be willing to go that far.

RStoR is the one with his V-AFC mounted in the passenger visor. And no, you could not see it at all! He's since moved on to a Power FC, so he may be willing to sell it, if he hasn't already. In the clock bezel is another excellent idea, and he pondered that, too. I want to say he has an a/f meter there now.
The JDM roof console would kick ***, but how much does the console cost? I'm sure it's not cheap.
I keep mine in direct line of sight, because I use the monitor feature for RPM, throttle position and pressure. I have it velcro'd (using the supplied bracket) on the gauge bezel to the left of the speedometer. It only blocks the factory tach below about 1800 rpm, and less than half the temp gauge. I did not mount it centered to keep from blocking the speedo. I did have it velcro'd to the front of the ashtray (which worked out well), but moved it because I kept looking down there instead of at the road
Figure out if you'll be actively looking at it, then figure out where you want to place it
ps - mounting with velcro lets you hide it when away from your car or at the dealer

Attatch harness to ecu.
Pull passenger side pillar cover, run line
Pull off rear view
Notch hole in plastic rear view cover.
Cut VAFC bracket to fit.
Mount above rear view.
Cant see it when peering into car
Full view when driving.
