This there any way to lower the seat on my ITR?
Here's the problem, I autocross a lot and do track lapping occasionally. However, whenever I do this I am forced to lean my seat back more than I'd like to keep my helmet from hitting the ceiling. This does not make for a great position for performance driving. Is there anything that I can do to the stock seat to lower the driving position? As I said, I autocross a lot, so I don't want to change seats or anything that will push me out of a stock class. I don't need a very big drop, maybe 1/2 an inch to an inch. Thanks.
I am like the worst possible build for an ITR driver. I am 5'10", but I have shorter legs and a longer torso, which means that I have to sit closer to the wheel than normal for my height, not to mention that I like to sit closer to the wheel while racing. Anyway, I was hoping that maybe I could swap the rails on the seat or something and lower it a bit. That might not be totally legal for stock auto-x, but I doubt anyone would notice and I wouldn't feel guilty, since it isn't really a performance advantage.
The seats are unfortunately designed for shorter people. I had the same problem with my car - I found heel/toe downshifting nearly impossible because my knees hit the underside of the dash when I was in the proper driving position (which is with the seatback very upright).
I changed to a race bucket after many futile attempts to lower seating position.

I don't know if my leg:torso ratio is normal, but I'm 6.1 and I can just barely get by with a Bell Sport II in my R. I have to flip the sun visor down and stick my head in the little indentation where the sun visor sits (yes, I sit very close to the wheel when competing). I notice that my head bumps around a little in the pits, but it's just barely okay enough that I don' notice it when I'm focused on driving.
I don't believe any seat modifications are allowed in GS. I know you said you have a long torso, but at 5.10-11, you should be in pretty good shape.

I have considered doing this as well. Do you find that it interferes with your vision while racing, or is it something that you don't even notice once you're out on the course?
