Default do i want to rev 10k's

I've read somewhere that when i put in skunk stage2 cams in my r with
a stock valvetrain, i can only rev up to 8500 rpm.
Is this true? But what if i put in the skunk2 valvetrain, how high will i be able to rev if i do this?
And will i make more power when reving to like 10k?

thanks

Stock bottom end (pistons esp)?

I'd think a little higher compression would be needed along with those cams to make power higher than 8500 rpm.

First of all,

you need to make sure it is even worth reving to 10k? Dont do it just because it looks cool to your passenger to watcha tach go to 10k. You will have to do indvidual tb's big compression and big cams. The guys who run n/a going like 10's run there motor out to like 10.5 -11 but they religiously tear down the motor to make sure the bottom end and top end is still holding together. My opinion is you can make more than enough power with just reving to 8500-9000. For example i had a b18c1 with gsr head, high compression pistons, skunk stage 1 cams, skunk mani,310 inj,aem cold air,dc 421,greddy sp exhaust, and made over 205whp on hondata. My gsr full body NOTHING removed went 104mph with a organic clutch that would slightly slip in betweeen shifts. just my .02

that was one of the things i wanted to now, if it would be worth it to rev to 10k.
But What would be the best thing to when i'm installing the skunk stage2 cams.
What do i have to get. For example: do i need other springs, retainers and what compression would be best?

Sorry, guy's Its a lot easyer for me to explain this in dutch!
BTW, I agree with QCKGSR.

You're not gonna make any power revving past 8500-9k rpm. I wouldn't even consider 10k rpm..

Don't blame him, NY schools suck.

Contact Skunk 2 and ask them for a more definite answer, or even search or ask SGT:

http://www.skunk2.com/

As per their site:

"Stage II: Stage II profiles are more aggressive than Stage I profiles, and are designed for modified engines operating at higher rev ranges. Upgrading to Skunk2 Racing valvetrain components is required for proper operation. Stock idle and emission characteristics may be slightly compromised, but fair-to-good driveability allows them to still be used on dual-purpose vehicles. Proper tuning, an upgraded intake system, and an exhaust system are required in order to maximize the potential of these camshafts. Do not use oversized valves."

Personally, I'd stay stock. I just love the reliability.

He is dutch, so maybe its a bit of a strange way to ask a question.
If you translate this into dutch its a normal question.

I'm sorry for being dutch also........

My rev limiter stops me @ 9K...and I have a fully built bottom end and I think that's enough!!! No point to go higher...this motor is rev happy as it is...

I would try and get more under the curve as opposed to making the curve longer.

if you knew the answer to my question why would you have to start
trash talking. I get so tired of some people just because they think they
know more about something they have the right to talk like this. If you know the answer tell me, if you don't or don't want to. Then shut up!!!
