What YR tranny do I have ?
Alright so I figure I can just drop it and start counting splines but I figure someone here can help me out. My title says 1989 crx si yet my door plate says 10/88 crx si. Now do I have a 88 tranny or 89 tranny ? I'm going to buy a new clutch but I wanted to see if I can get ahead of myself and order a clutch without having to drop my tranny and put it back on there again to do so. I'm asking since the 88 spline count is different from an 89 and either way I don't know what yr my tranny can be. I mean it's something dumb but maybe someone can help me out.

Thanks, that what I figured but I wanted to make sure. Maybe I can get one more person to confirm that and I'll go ahead and order an 89 clutch.

I think it would be a wise thing to know for sure before you order it. Just in case. Unless waiting for the right one in case you make wrong assumption is not an issue.
I'm pretty sure (not positive though) that 10/88 is when the car was manufactured... ie: it rolled off the assembly line october 1988, which would make it a 89 model.
I'll try that, thanks. Thankyou everyone for the help. Jlicrx so if it's a K that would make my tranny any 89' also ?
Good Job everyone - Impressive work.

You have an '89... If you're doing the clutch you might want to consider getting a 90-91 flywheel (accually 90-2000) then you can use the 90-91 clutch kit (212mm clutch disk instead of the 200mm you have on there now, also much more availability of a lightened flywheel) I'm currently running a 95 flywheel, 91 clutch kit, and 89 tranny in my 88 crx.
