'Honda Canada Announces 2005 Honda Michelin Challenge Series West'
Western Canada received some great news Friday at the Vancouver Auto Show in BC Place. Honda Canada announced that the longest running professional race series in Canadian history will be making a triumphant return to Western Canada in 2005. The Honda Michelin Challenge Series was originally launched in 1975 and is well known for its very exciting wheel to wheel action. The series will begin operation this year in Eastern Canada and will include a very high profile race at the Montreal Grand Prix.
The 2005 Western schedule is still to be determined, but races will likely be held in both British Columbia and Alberta. The car to be used is the Civic DX Coupe shod with Michelin Pilot Sport Cup tires. For those lucky enough to have attended a Honda Michelin race at Westwood Motorsport Park, the sight of 33 identical Civics barreling into the hairpin on the first lap has been sorely missed. "Honda is very committed to the resurrection of this great road racing championship," says Ralph Luciw, Series Director. "We are very excited to offer Western Canada the opportunity to experience the Honda Michelin Challenge once again and we look forward to some fantastic racing"
The Honda Michelin Challenge Series is on the web at http://www.honda.ca/HondaCorpE...t.htm
Exact details of the Western Series will be made available as they arise.
