Most people run chipped ones or a standalone... the stock one i would think wouldnt have an efficient air/fuel ratio for the h motor

i'm with satan. no one should ever have to use a stock p28 computer on an h22. or even chipped for that matter.

i've seen first hand what can happen to your motor if you use one.

Not even chipped? Meaning, not even Hondata?

Thanks for the replies guys.

Hondata is different. I'm talking about out of the box chips...they all blow.

yeah. ebay chips. random chips. they all suck on an h22 application where a p13 is not available.

hondata, uberdata, ghettodyne things like that are okay because you can burn your own chips and tune your car and datalog with them.

p28's in a stock form or random chip form run deadly lean on an h22 and it looks ugly if you drive it for too long(ie over 2-3 months)

i would not run a stock (non modified) p28 with any car unless it cam stock with the car it was designed for.

If you are going to use the p28 like you said use it with hondata or other manufacturers he remap/rework the chip to suit your car.

yes i run p28 with hondata

i have a chipped p28 and a chipped p72 but my p28 pulls alot harder than the p72 eventough i would like to run the p72 because i assume that it is better. i am not running a knock sensor and im not sure if the p72 needs it to function

A little out of question, but maybe it will help you.

I ran with P30 (civic 1.6 dohc vtec) ecu for about 6 months before I got a P13 ecu. The differences were:

1. Vtec engagement at 5500 rpm
2. Vtec engagement much more feelable that with P13 ecu, probably due to lacks of power before engagement
3. No secondaries butterflies operation
4. No desactivating of cruise control when clutch pressed, engine turned up to fuel cutoff.

one thing I forgotten: emission test was OK with P30 ecu (it was stock, not chipped)

I'm usuing a socketed p28 off of an auto civic. I had a buddy pull a jumper to convert it to a manual, as well, I'm using 450 cc injectors with it. I was having a bit of a problem with it before. The jumper that is beneathe the chip that alters the chips setting back to the normal civic settings was a bit loose and the CEL would come on. I would drive it to see if I could notice anything abnormal (cuz I was told that if improrperly done, the auto to manual swap would cause the CEL to come on) it still drove normal and the pulled the same...or so I thought! haha

Anyway, I was driving one time with the CEL on (cuz it would come on and turn off the nexxt day) and suddenly, my car went into limp mode. I guess it was running off of the civic settings and finally didin't like it. I made the connection to that jumper tighter and I haven't had the CEL come on sinde (knock on wood! haha)

Also, I'm using ubersoftware and my VTEC is set at 4800. For some reason though, my full throttle launch capabilities is not working properly...oh well. I'm just waiting for a buddy to let us onto his dyno so I can tune N/A then the turbo is going back on.
