What are some symptoms of a bent valve??? Severe over revv
I overrevved my 99 B18c1 and it is kind of sputtering down low and does not idle once warmed up. I can drive it though, i hear a noise but not very loud coming from engine. Very bad fuel economy. I am wondering if i bent a valve or if something else can be checked first before ripping the head off... Any ideas guys?
Do a compression check on the engine and see what you get. If you notice a cylinder or two that's extremely low or 0, it's most likely bent valves (I'm assuming only one or two cylinders might be affected considering it still drives). It's possible that you went into valve float if you revved it high enough with stock springs, and the exhaust valves might have hit the pistons if they didn't close fast enough.

Compression and Leakdown is probably where you will discover the problem

You might want to check if its a rod bearing! I had the same thing happen on my civic Si.. Over reved and spun the #1 rod bearing.. Small nock at first, dont want to run when car is warmed up and lost tramedis hourspower..
