Does urethane motor mount inserts really help???
I'm just wondering if they really do reduce wheel hop and all because they're pretty cheap compared to buying a whole hasport engine mount kit or a kit that already has urethane bushings.
Thats all I run but I will soon be getting something better.
After I put in the inserts My R/T 's and 60 foots got more consistent.

I had a set of inserts and my Full Race manifold still dinged my hood. They help a little but if you have the means get a set of good mounts.
I bought a set of energy inserts, and they didn't really fit quite right. I definitely had the right kit too, I took the issue all the way to energy's technical department.
IMO the best wat to stiffen up the mounts is with urethane resin. I have done several cars with it and the results have been exelent!! I bought a 1lb can of 80D resin, and was able to fill 6 mounts 3 Saturn mounts, and 3 Honda mounts for about $25 shipped to my door. The key is to clean them really well before taping them off and filling. Take them to the kitchen sink with a good degreaser (if needed) then do a couple final scrubs with dish soap (you can also run them through the dishwasher to get them extra clean). After that just make sure they are completely DRY. Tape off one side of the mount and any holes, use a strong tape like GOOD duct tape, or gaffers tape the **** WILL ooze out through the smallest seam, or hole. The work time is listed as 20 minutes, but the mix I used (foryche polymer) didn't even hint of thikening for at least 30 minutes, and was still workable past 45 minutes. I'd recomend not pouring til you start noticing a change in cosistancy other wise it will find it's way through the seams of your tape job. It has no real fume or smell, so you can just sit down at the table to top off (til it really starts to set) and clean up any seapage without any discomfort.

Yes they do help, esp. for 40 bucks!!</TD></TR></TABLE>
They definitely raise the vibration factor, but the gains are well worth it IMO. I'd also go as far as to say that the "filler up" method is better, because it becomes a more solid mount when completely filled
Not to mention it only costs $25 or so

Yes the Energy kits need some "triming" to fit into stock mounts maybe because the inserts are mass produced or maybe event because the stock mounts are also mass produced
slowsleeper - what is your set up engine/chassis? We use alot of AVID replacement mounts at or shop and they seem to work very well, but with the fix you almost create another problem, vibration. But as they say you have to give to get, or something like that. I would say 8 out of 10 engine swaps we do run Prothene inserts ( copy of energy ) with stock mounts, the other 2 will use mount kits from AVID or HASPORT. All of the 10 notice a difference in the vibration but most understand. 40-50 bucks will save broken OEM mounts down the line EVERY TIME. And most of the mount kit companies carry warranties, but do you really want to have to replace the rear mount lets say on a 90 integra - not me. My opinion #1 - bolt in kit ( AVID ) and deal with the stiffer mount #2 At least inserts to slow down the breaking of the stock mounts. Good Luck.

That is what I am using on my racecar, they are definitely the best IMO
...but they are a bit more costly than even the inserts, and quite a bit more than a 1LB can of resin...
The cars I did with resin were no torque monsters, and if you are building something substantial you may want to just buy mounts... but I've never seen even a hint of failure with a filler up
The choice as always is yours... just spreading my thoughts and experiences
