Carbon Fiber Hood: Which one fits the best
hello I am new to the board, did a search but still couldnt find the answer.
Who makes the best fitting Carbon Fiber Hood? I am going stealth and going to paint it, so the fit has to be perfect. thanks

J's racing and CRUX makes good JDMs too!
I dont want the Mugen or CRUX carbon fiber hoods because I want the stock look.
How does the J's carbon hood look like? could someone post a picture?
So far, it seems the Spoon hood is best on fitment. How many of you guys have the Spoon Carbon hood?

I totally agree with you
And I like the bare carbon look on some cars, but I want the stealth look with the weight advantage. BTW, I only plan on putting a thin layer of paint only on the top side (paint is heavy
) You could still admire the beauty of the hood when I open it.
I have considered fiberglass but have you guys seen the JUNK out there.
I wonder who did the carbon work on Adam Sawaraturi's NSX. It was Perfect, no flaws could be seen. At certain angles you could see the carbon weave under that paint but it was glass smooth. weird. Too bad it caught on fire and burned.

if you want a good CF hood, with excellent fitment that cost far less then spoon or mugen hood.. look into VIS hoods.. they are http://www.visracing.com/
i'm sure this post is going to get flamed now and etc.. VIS is a pos etc.. whatever!
i have seen both sunny stlying hoods and fiber images, comparing to VIS hoods they make now all the rest are simply POS. The best 300 bucks i have ever spent.
The hoods have plenty of clearcoat on them, and are reinforced underneeth with carbon fiber as well.. look very similar to benen hoods. The CF pattern is just flawless on the one i got. For those in slocal on the next meet i can show you why i think it was worth 300 bucks.. (btw, i think they sell them for 400) this is what i paid through a friend.
I'd love to get spoon but dont have 1K to fork out right now when this one is almost as good, for much less. btw, the hood latch also features plenty of reinforcement and the hood seems to be very stable at high speeds with no hood pins. I had someone drive next to me to see if the hood will become unstable as the speed was increasing but it all seemed fine.. so far i've taken it up to 135 or so and everything seemed to be intact.
hope this helps.
the whole point of this reply is to try to save this dood some cash.. btw, you get a hood like this it leaves you with cash for something like a spoon CF lip or a spoon muff etc...

You want to go stealth, yet you have a JDM front end, HIDs and Red recaros....
hybrid eg- Thank you, that is what I wanted to hear. All that really matters is excellent fitment.
Forget the brand names, I want to pay for fitment. So you are saying that fitment is perfect?? If it was painted, would it look like the stock hood?
Also you mentioned benen, Please let me know more info on their hoods. Do they have one for the JDM front?
Is there anymore that I should look at before I buy one??

i dont know if benen makes them from JDM front end yet.. i've heard of rumors that people have them but have never seen one in person yet. The VIS one that i have has excellent fitment! fits like stock, and aligns right on, closes with ease no need to push on it like a maniac to close it. Plus its very stable at all speeds, no need for hood locks, has excellent finish! i took it to a body shop that did my front end and asked to get it cleared some more, the reply was, it looks so good as is, if i tried to clear anymore i'd probably **** it up.. and the waive pattern is close to perfect, it matches my spoon lip excellent.
Would you happen to have any pics that you can post? thanks
Also, You compared to benen, Is benen suppose to be another spoon in quality or something?

from what i've seen of FI hoods they are hit or miss on the quality of them
i have a JHP.com hood and they are suppose to be comparable to the Spoon hood.. fit is good.. finish is good.. ect.. I'm very impressed with it!
Spoon hood would be nice..

hey hybrid, When did you get your VIS carbon hood?? I talked to a friend who had a VIS carbon hood and he said the quality and fitment sucks, he went on to say that Sunny Styling makes the hoods for VIS. Thats no good.
