Default Suspension Setup???

Hey everyone, I posted before and I am new to the auto-X/roadracing scene just wanted to know what some Prelude suspension setups are. I will probably be a weekend warrior and the car is a commuter, so I was thinking full-coilovers, but I read and heard that that using full-coilovers ejects you from certain classes is this true? So I'm leaning towards some good springs/shocks anyone have a setup they find good for my application that would be great thanks.

Cool thanks, any ideas for a good setup I was thinking of KYB adjustables and not sure which spring would work well with those? Maybe some Eibachs? Anyone else have some ideas?

well you'll want to decide which class you'd like to run, each class has it's own requirements as far as mods. (RR/AX company line): You should buy a rule book (incredibly important) and get some seat time and just get out and drive.

we'll assume you'd like to run STS, and i will suggest a coilover sleeve and high quality shocks. something like Ground Controls and Koni's, or even GC's and AGX's. good luck campaigning the lude.

Glad to see another prelude driver getting involved with autocross. As you already know, our cars are fat pigs that like to plow (understeer) through turns. Thus, If you're going to auto-cross, I reccommend a large rear anti-sway bar (like the adjustable Progress Bar) & running ~100 lbs/in higher springs in the rear than the front

My prelude set-up currently is Koni Yellow Shocks (stock - haven't been revalved), Ground Control Coilovers, and a rear Suspension Techniques anti-sway bar. I run 400 lb springs in the front & 450 lbs in the rear. It is an okay set-up & is still streetable - it's a nice compromise between being somewhat competitive & still livable on the street. The handling is certainly better than stock but it still needs some more work. If I had the money, I would shorten & revalve my shocks, change my springs up to around 550 front & 700 rear, & put an even larger rear anti-sway bar. However, that set-up would not be fun on the street

just get a decent set of tires and get out there! go to as many events as you can and learn to drive before upgrading your suspension. in retrospect, i wish i had waited longer to do suspension mods on my car.

Will you be at the autocross tomorrow at Rosecroft? If you will, I'll be there in my 2000 Prelude, running 3rd heat.
My advice is the same as Jeff Rs. Decent tires are good, but seat time is more important than anything. Since the place I bought my new wheels screwed up, I'll be running on all seasons tomorrow but that's not going to stop me.

Well ok, I definetly do need seat time, but what are necessary to even compete in Auto-Xing or Circut driving. Helmet, Roll cage?, harness, good tires , good brakes, any other little things that are needed?

The Prelude already comes with good brakes, so you don't have to worry about that. Good tires are nice, but you don't have to worry about that for a bit either.
Helmets are required,a valid driver's license, working seat belts, and a working car. Loaner helmets are available at each autocross, so you don't have to buy one right away.

I have a similar question.

First a lil background...
1995 integra RS
Ground Controls 400fr and 500 rear
KYB AGX adjustables.
24mm rear sway bar.
22 mm front sway bar
rota attacks 15 x 6.5 with falken azenis

I just replaced a left front shock and I was thinking of gettting the car corner weighted and I havent had an alaignment.

What is a good alainment specs for my car for sts??

Where is a good place in md to get corner weighted (DC area)

I Havent had the car corner weighted or alained since it was lowered.

Thanks alot. Jason Rohrbaugh # 3 STS integra
