Going form coilovers to springs...need suggestions
hey all. need some feedback here.
i have Skunk2 coilovers on Tokico Illumina shocks at all corners. i am concerned with the fact that i can't use the factory dust boots (the sleeve would interfere with the movement of the shock) and im not sure if this is good for the shock to have no dust boot (if it isn't please let me know)
I'm thinking of going back to a lowering spring on my Illuminas until I can pick up a JIC or TEIN full threaded body coilover set.
So far my choices in springs are as follows:
Skunk2 2.5F 2.25R
Intrax Super Sport 2.5F 2.3R
NEUSPEEED Race 2.3F 2.0R
Any suggestions as to which ones (or suggest a brand i didn't list) and do any of you rhave some useage feedback on them or another brand? I do use my car at SOLO II events as much as possible when time and money permit so it does see actual weekend race duty during spring and summer. I'm not concerned with a cushy ride quality for daily driving in summer so stiff spring rates woulnd't bother me. I can always adjust the dampening on the shock.
Also, please let me know if you can how long i can expect my shocks to last without dust boots. This is going to be my second season at autoX and althought I'm still new to suspension geometry and tech I would like a nice stiff spring for shaving the cones. I like my coilovers but im not hot on the idea that I don't have dust boots on them. The car is lowered approx 2" with the coilovers during race season so it's not "slammed". I stored them all this winter so they don't see salt at all.

I have ran my AGX's without dust boots for almost 4 years now with no ill affects, keep the skunk 2's they provide you with way more optins for spring rates and adjustabilty that lowerin spings will.
the director of the autoX organization just replied back to me in the Ontario Solo forum and he said pretty much the same thing
i just got worried because the warranty bookelt that came with my Illuminas mentioned about it being bad to not have dust boots
thanks man
