Would a failing clutch cause a CEL?
I was driving home tonite on the highway (>5000 rpm) and I felt the car hesitating heavily. I assumed it was my clutch seeing its almost time for it to be replaced (stock clutch that was beaten on pretty bad). The next thing I know the check engine light comes on and the car won't rev over 5K. The car has roughly 40,000 miles with an intake or exhaust. Any ideas?
On a side note, the clutch would never cause engine hesitation.
At least, I can't think of any way it would.
If your clutch was worn, you would notice it during launches or shifts, but not just driving down the road.
