(4th gen) 5-speed swap - any firewall modification required?
Am I correct in assuming that you simply can swap the hardware over, without modifying the firewall at all? The bolt holes & what not for the clutch cylinder already exist?
btw, this is on a 4th gen ... TIA

No firewall modification/cutting/etc. is required. Just make sure you have all the parts - including the clutch lines for the slave & master cylinders. When I did my five-speed swap, we took all the parts off a salvaged car which I bought from an auction. That way, I just unbolted all the parts from one car & saw exactly where to bolt them right up on my car.
well, its not fresh in my mind, as i took everything off about 6 months ago - but I did keep all the parts so I'm expecting it to go rather painless.
Is it possible to do it without taking the dash off? I took the dash off when I took the parts off, but I was being a bit careless with some of the trim and would rather avoid that for now.

Yea, I didn't have to take my dash off. It was fairly simple to do. If you have the motor out, then it is incredibly easy to run the lines. I think getting all the manual crap in the car only took me a couple of hours, like I say it wasn't bad at all.
