Default Question....

2000 Type R 28000km still under warranty... Only mod is a AEM CAI.

I think my 5th gear synchro is starting to go bye bye. When under full accelration going from 2nd to 5th it wont engage it just grinds and I cant put it into gear.

My question is this... we all know that at CAI has nothing to do with a bad synchro but my car is still under warranty and I am going to take it in next week. Should I go through the hassle of taking it off and putting the stock air box back in? I dont know if they will start throwing crap at me like "your intake voids your warranty". But again it has nothing to do with the Transmission and I just want everyones opinion.. should I take it off or no?

Thanks.

I guess technically they could bitch at you, but ultimately in the end, the intake shouldnt have any effect, and if they use it as a reason to not repair the problem(if there is a problem) then they are bullshitting you. You might wanna take it off just to avoid any of that crap, but it probably depends on the dealer.

why are you shifting from 2nd to 5th anyway?? what is it like if you go from 4th to 5th??

Shifitng between 4th and 5th is fine.... and why am I doing that?... No particular reason..sometimes I hammer it 2nd and go right into 5th just to bring the revs down and coast...

Also tried other combinations from 3rd to 5th 1st to 3rd it just seems anything from 1st or 2nd going into 5th doesnt work whcih to me seems like the 5th synchro is goin. I know if I dont do anything about this the Synchro will just get progressivley worse and Ill end up payin for it later if once the warranty is gone...

yes take the intake offfffffffff!!!!!!!!! I know alot of people who owned INTEGRA'S and when they roll in with an intake they will void your warrenty cause they know your racing your **** and will say thats why your syncros is fucked otherwise why would you have an intake....couple of my friends owned there car for 15k and went in for the 4th oil change and they voided the ENTIRE warrenty its not worth it, spend the houR and put it on.

save ur self the headache and put ur stock air box and arm "everything back on"
you will thank us.

You can try and find a big dealer in a more urban/ populated area near you. They are usually more lenient(sp?) towards owners of modified cars because they see more of them than a smaller dealer usually does.

Worked in my case at least. Bronx honda=

Yes, but how long will it last after they "fix" it?
Sometimes it amazes me how people can't see the "forest" because of all the trees!

that's an odd shift to be making..

if you're that worried, take it off.. most dealers won't care about it though..
