which car should i make my track car? (road racing)
i currently have a 2001 prelude base manual, with header, intake, exhaust , 2.5 cat, pulleys, and tein ss coilovers, stock wheels /w azenis sports.
but I will also have a 94 cx civic soon (bone stock) so one of these cars has to be my commuter car...
Is it better to start over again on the civic in the long run or just stick with the prelude ?
thanks

How much does it cost to replace the Civic? The Prelude?
If somebody loses his brakes behind you and gets into your rear bumper, sending your car into the tire barrier, which would you rather fix (or total)?

Also, I heard that if you take a Prelude around a turn it flies off the track and into a wall automatically due to the enormous weight over the front tires, something like 3 tons.
Kindof like taking a Camaro around a track, as soon as you get to a turn you'll realize it didn't come with a steering wheel from the factory, and how silly you were to take it on a road course.

3 Tons= 6,000 lbs.
And I have some some Camero's haul *** around a track....

Check the assumption that you have to use one of the cars you already have. There have been plenty of racing/track projects abandoned because they started with the wrong platform.
That said, the CX could potentially be a really good ITC car so go that route. Don't do ANYTHING that isn't Improved Touring legal so you leave an escape route for yourself or the car, or can actually go racing if you find you really enjoy it.

I'm more in agreement with Kirk. Sell one of these cars and get a built car. Or if you want to build a car for the track, I would suggest getting a different car. Also keep in mind some of the upcoming changes within SCCA's classes and think long term.
Also with the lude, the suspension you have on it - I would imagine it is set-up for street use. You may, but I would be surprised if you have their race suspension set-up. Keep the lude as your street car. Remember that you will drive you street car 355 days year (or more) and your race car the other few.

I think the Civic would make a better choice:
-Classed competitively
-Don't have to replace all the mods you installed (ie Prelude)
-Cheaper to fix/total/etc.
-I'd rather drive a Prelude on the street than a Civic.

3 tons!? No steering wheel!? That's preposterous!

well, if you must use one of them for your track car, i think the clear choice is the civic. sell the prelude, buy a truck and trailer, and race the 70hp monster.
