Whats the best overall high performance all-season tire out there for the money?
What's the best high performance all-season tire out there for the money? I need to get a set pretty soon. I was thinking about getting the same ones my brother has--Bridgestone Potenzas RE92's......
Uh uh, sorry.
Something more like the Bridgestone RE950, or Dunlop SP5000/SP Sport A2, Yoke AVS dB. All get high marks at http://www.tirerack.com

Define "the money". . . . Best value, or money's no object?
I doubt many here would recommend any kind of all-season. You could probably get away with it in Jersey winters, but . . . . .
If it were me, I'd get another set of cheap steel wheels & some hardcore winter tires for them. As rarely as you get snow, you could swap on the winter wheels on a day by day basis. With a good jack, it only takes about half hour. Using a set of snows like this could probably get you through 3 or 4 winters, depending on your mileage.
This way you get to keep your good performance rubber on for 95% of your driving. No compromises . . . . .
It also gives you a set of full size spares should anything happen (an insurance that I've enjoyed). You can also put 'em on when you're going into the city to keep your good wheels from getting hoarked (if you've got good wheels
).
Anyway, just an idea.
