Default third gear

ok for awhile now me third gear had been grindin cause of my syncroze(sp) and tonitght i am drivin along and now it will not even go into third gear do i have to get a whole new tranny and it is a 5 speed 91 lx thanks

It definitely sounds like you'll have to at least partially rebuild the tranny.

One thing you could check out is making sure your shift cables are okay. If you can get into first and fifth, I'd doubt it's the shift cables however.

your gonna need at least syncros, and it wouldn't hurt to just do an overhaul while your in there. all the labor is in removing the box, spend a little extra and do it right.

You could look in to trying to find a used trans w/ shorter gears. I'm definitely no expert on accords, but doesn't H series trans mate to F series engine? Maybe even find a H trans w/ LSD.

If you do rebuild your trans, be prepared to replace "third gear". The dog teeth that the synchro mates to are probably gone and that's why it won't go into gear. Look at the fluid when it comes out. Gold particles mean bad synchros, which we already know you have since it grinds, silver particles means your synchros been bad for a loooong time, and you have bigger issues.

One more thing, do not use a puller on that **** like people suggest, get yourself a press. you'll save like 20 hrs of labor.

welli came up with an idea tongiht i want an h22 really bad and this is a good time to get one i am gonna sell my motorcycle and i should be able to get about 1500 for it and the rest i will just take out like a personal loan and get my h22 and i will get new tranny and new motor and the bike any one want it 1985 honda magna 500 v4 rips like no other cruiser
