I have a 2000 FBP Integra Type R.
I took it to be repainted the other day and got it back today. After I dropped it off, the body shop called and told me that the paint that was on it was not the stock color and had no pearl whatsoever. I told him to paint it Flamenco Black pearl. Anyway, my wife picked it up this afternoon since I work a mid shift. When I got home, and the lights of my other car hit the fresh paint job, the car looked purple. Almost like a chameleon color...
Is this normal? Im the second owner of the vehicle and no accidents show on the carfax, but I met the previous owner and his girlfriend and she told me that it was in an accident once. So the previous owner could of had it resprayed and did it the wrong color. I've just never seen a type R look like that, but I dont really know...

Please help!

Sounds like it's a little late to be asking for color advice at this point.

 

Yes FBP is supposedly alot more Purple then NBP(more blue/black)


I've seen the fresh paint under my Window seals etc...and this is the 2nd NBP I have owned and my R is a tad more Blue then My RSX-S

enjoy it,..but I guess your just stunned.No comment on the prev paint job...but ALOT of colors say "Pearl"...its kinda a Flake to it...little crystals.Fresh aint shows it more then say 2 yr old paint.

I was a little more than diheartened to find out that what they had told me was true about it possibly being in an accident. They said it joking, so I just brushed it off. Im glad to hear that it may be normal. I was really suprised by it when I pulled into my driveway.

Sounds like they painted it Flamenco Black PURPLE... . J/K, but i dont think thats at all strange. Its very fresh yet and make look different now then it will in a week or two. I wouldnt jump the gun and start bitching anyone out just yet .

Best I can say is hopefully you'll like it better in the daylight.
You can always try another color ...

 

Thanks for the advice! I really am not familiar with the paint process and all. Someone had keyed the right rear quaterpanel, so that plus the normal chips from daily driving, I figured just repaint it. I was really disappointed there for a little while. They really did a great job on it., and I love the color. I was just scared that it wasnt the Right color. I just wasnt aware of how paint really works and all! heh. oh well. Thanks again! Maybe now I can get some sleep!
