Default Quick Tranny question for lude gurus

Just had a quick question for you lude gurus. Will a 5th gen tranny work on a 4th gen h22? Does it matter if its JDM or not?

I currently have a jdm h22a and i would like to get another tranny. I dont know if there is a difference between usdm and fitment onto the jdm block, nor do i know if you can use a 5th gen tranny on a 4th gen block.

Can someone please clear this up for me? I have the money in hand right now, I just dont know what will work. Thanks!

if it is an type sh tranny, you'd have to do a lot of work to it to fit. Other than that, the base tranny will work.

Ok, so the SH wont work, cool. I've got a list of trannys here, will any of these trannys work? Also, does it matter if it is USDM or JDM?

M2U4 = 5th gen SH tranny (wont work)
M2Y4 = 5th gen Base tranny
M2F4 = 4th gen VTEC tranny
M2A4 = JDM 4th gen VTEC tranny (same as M2F4)
M2B4 = JDM 4th gen VTEC tranny w/ LSD

Thanks for the speedy responses so far!

I'd take the last one any day. But, i am not very familiar with parts availability, if any, for these JDM ones.

Do some research on that, the internals may be same or may not at all

why would you put on a 5th gen tranny...they all have longer gears for the most part than a 4th gen VTEC tranny.
