87 Accord Water Pump / Timing Belt -- Need Help
Hi all,
I have an '87 Accord LX, and it is leaking coolant from the water pump. I was going to attempt to replace the pump myself, but was told by one mechanics that you also have to do the timing belt? He wants $400! Another said that you don't.
I thought that was only on newer Accords.
Do I have to do both on this car???
Thanks!

It is a really good idea to do both at the same time! $400 is not a bad price either just make sure they do your seals and gaskets to!
How many miles are on your car?

No, you can replace just the pump if you want, it's driven off the alternator belt.
