Default Friends car got jacked, how easy is a 5th gen??

I was up all last night helping my boy look for his car. He had an Acura Teg LS and obviously loved his car with a passion. They stole it out his backyard, no alarm was heard, his exauhst wasnt heard, nothing. So i was up since 4 am hunting with him...I'm nervous cuz i live around the block from him and i Street my car.

Basically my question is, The 5th gens are setup with the immobilizer and a chipped key, i also hooked up the Viper alarm with the pager that also has another immobilizer on it... So how easy is it for these F*CKS to bypass all that and hotwire the prelude??? and do you have any suggestions to boost the security?

The fact is that they will tow it away and strip it if need be. Cars and trucks will not run without the correct key in the switch if they have the full Immobilizer setup. Hotwire will not work unless you have some very special skills and a lot of time to bypass the computer. If you leave goodies out in the open that is an invite to break in regardless of what you do to protect the car. Someone knew the car in question and took their time taking it.
Sorry for the loss

yeah my freinds integra has a chip and they some how managed to steel it but it took them around 5 to 10 minutes to get the bitch started. but they obviously knew what they were doing cuz its not easy with the chip. also if you can hear your alarm good from inside your house you shouldn't have anything to worry about. also i have 2 alarms one on the inside and one on the outside and when you cut the wires you can no longer start the car cuz it cutz the battery line. the only way your car can get stolen while your home has already been said and thats if they tow it but your alarm should go off for atleast 5 seconds before they cut it. and if your really worried about it set up a camera or somthing we did it to my friends car cuz we knew someone was lookin for it and we got em.

sadly the immobilizer really doesn't do too much if the theives know what they are doing. I can bypass that in like 30 seconds if i wanted to steal a 5th gen. the imobilizer is only to stop the wannabe theives.

plus if they are really determined they will take ur car even if u have the wheels bolted to the ground or something

Yeh, my 2000 civic Si was stolen from a gym i was workin out at on a crowded parking lot. We are pretty sure those ************* used a tow truck cuz there was no broken glass or any signs of broken entry. 4 days later they found my baby totally stripped interior and out, power and drivetrain. Damn near brought tears to my eyes. Now I got a 2000 lude and im thinking of puttin the LoJack recovery system on it before I start throwing money in my car. NEbody knows where I can get it and how much it runs??

just park your car in a locked garage, and park a car in front of the door.

first off, dump your viper alarm and get a compustar with spread spectrum, then get a back-up battery and a set of loud *** air horns ($30) from your local auto parts store, hook them up to the alarm as a second siren. this way, within a mile and through walls/ basments you still get paged, and your alarm is so fukin loud everyone in your nieborhood will be up and looking at your car..

The theft device that goes over the brake or clutch pedal works good too. How about a detachable aftermarket steering wheel? I still think a pitbull in the backseat is the best protection against theives.

I also got my 91 integra ls broken into at the gym. I hate feeling violated. Thieving bastards.

That idea about hooking up an extra battery with an airhorn is good and I heard it B4. But how do you make it go off when someone is messing with your car? Also what if they cut the main alarm, wont it dissable your airhorn also? Any info will be greatly appriciated.

Get a Clifford Concept 600

*4immobillisers

*1 Wiresless hidden
*Anti car-jacking
*If the main siren is cut it switches to the horns
*massive list of features

But ashas been said, if they want it they will just pull it up onto a truck.

And for you guys with garages you could use my design to protect your pride... have a remote operated rolling code electronicly operated 'rollershutter' garage door. VErystrong, tenall you have to do is cut some box section in half forthe lenth ofthe garage door, the smash the current concrete up in front/directly below where the door shuts there and concrete the steelboxsection into the ground so the roller shutter door closes into it so no-one can get any kind of lever/crowbar under the door!

My suggestion would be get yourself some motion detector flood lights. Set them up on your house. If you live in an apartment this wont work. Then just park your car directly in the lights path. If you really wanna get secure you can even mount metal cages over the lights so the jackers cant just break out the lights. Someone stole my friends CRX right out my drive way. I know how you feel.

That sucks, I've got a alarm with a backup and the autolock, I've heard that thieves has found a way to break the autolock now. Now I don't even wanna park my car in the public now a days.... sucks man...

put two sirens in the cabin hidden with backup battery, so if they decide to steal it, they become deaf

and have a tilt sensor, so if they try to tow your car, the alarm will go off.

i.e. - get tons of sirens

edit: the clutch/break holding thing(autolock, i think) works well.. i read an article on how thieves stopped trying because of it being there.

**** air hons get the ambulance sirens with a back up battery. also put some high pitch sirens under the back seast so they cant be in the car with out there ears bleeding. alarms arnt to stop your car from getting stolen just slow them down until you get outside with your rugger!!

yeah i have the high pitch sirens inside my car. they're bad *** but i think all it will do is give them a really bad headache and annoy them but thats about it. but i also have an outside alarm so when they cut it the other one will still be going off and my car wont start. but they can always still tow it if they wanted.

put a thin strip of metal under each door handle and wire them up to 3-5 car batteries in the trunk. rig a hidden on/off switch so you can open/close the circuit whenever you want.

it'll make them think twice about trying to steal a car.....or use their arm for that matter.
