Default Wax Test

There's a new wax test that has been posted on the Internet. A bunch of folks spent their own money to acquire 40+ different car waxes and detailing products, applied them as recommended by the manufacturers, and evaluated the results. They also evaluated the outlets from whom they obtained the products. Lots of interesting comments.

I've actualy used the P21 stuff on my ITR before and I was not that impressed. It leaves swearl marks like nobodies business. I also have the Zaino Bros. stuff, but I have not had a chance to use it yet. I'll try to get on it this weekend (maybe Jason and I will do his car) and I'll let you all know how it turns out.

swirl marks are generally caused by the polishing process/wax removal process and not the polish itself. Using an orbital buffer helps - but on black cars it is always a challenge.

personally i use meguaires gold class, but the last 2 waxings, i've used my friends blitz 1 grand wax. it's pretty damn good stuff. you guys should consider using it, only downside is that it leaves rock sized chunks of wax after you remove it.

Dammit. All this time, I thought doing it by hand is better. Sigh...Anybody have suggestions for what brand orbital buffer to buy.

Doing it by hand is less likely to produce swirl marks - especially if you're not experienced at using a buffer. But the buffer is less work.

Swirl marks sometimes are caused by tiny dirt particles that are trapped in your wash/wax towel/mitt or buffer pad. So make sure you're using clean ones, 100 percent cotton (or microfiber), and have spares so you can pull out a new one if the one you're using falls on the ground.

I usualy use a buffer to apply the wax and rub it off by hand. The car comes out looking really good. I have been using Meguiars cleaner wax then there Gold wax after that. Also I make sure that I use a new buffer pad every time and that the car is clean too. Everything I use is from Meguiars-good stuff.

How do you learn how to use a buffer without messing up your car?
Also, who makes a good buffer.

I use Zaino

I find it easy to use and it works pretty well

I've posted this in another thread but this is just with 1 or 2 coats of Zaino, not the optical one just the scratch/swirl remover which isnt suppose to show as well

Looks good enough for me

I have a 7" Craftman random orbital buffer that is idiot-proof. Random orbitals are great for amateurs because when used in conjunction w/ foam buffing pads, the chance of burning through your paint are pretty much eliminated. It doesn't leave swirl marks, either.

Applying Meguiar's #7 showcar glaze with the buffer gives amazing results. You can work the glaze down to an oily finish that is easily removed. A coat of carnauba (I use Mother's pure) over that and you're golden. Before anything, I prep the surface w/ Meguiar's Body Scrub.

A rotary buffer should be left to the pros.

Yes I meant a RANDOM ORBITAL BUFFER.

Stay far far away from rotary buffers!
