Look for pivot pins that are messed up. Holes for those pins that are worn into egg-shaped. Worn holes in the clevis at the end of the MC piston rod, where it attaches to the pedal. That's all simple mechanical stuff you can inspect right now.

Don't get me wrong - there's a good chance your clutch is actually messed up. But first you want to hope for the easy fix.

If the pressure plate is not fully releasing it will cause grinds or a hard time putting it into gear. If the fluid in the resevoir is clean and the master isn't leaking you more than likely have to pull the tranny and replace the clutch

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by 631 Teggy &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">... Would a bad clutch lead to hard shifting as well? Or would that have more to do with the syncro's (have to jam it into gear sometimes)...</TD></TR></TABLE>Yes it'll cause hard shifting. Basically the clutch doesn't disengage all the way when you press the pedal down. If it's the clutch it'll happen in all gears, not just one. It's real unlikely that all 5 of your synchros go bad the same way at the same time.

i have heard that the factory honda clutch disc springs can start to come out of their spots. if this starts to happen it/they will rub on either the pp or the flywheel. just wanted to throw this idea out there too.

also if your pressure plate is not dissengaging all the way it may be that your slave cylinder which is what controls the pressure plate pressure is going out. Not to commom on lower mileage transmission, but not entirely out of the question

you wont know til you have it apart but i would almost be willing to bet my h22a delsol that your throwout bearing has a broken ear where it attaches to the clutch fork !!! will cause all your symptoms . all of them, your syncros are fine but dont keep driving it like that unless you want to pay for a tranny too. if you live locally i will do the clutch job for you. might as well spring for the whole clutch kit since you have it apart and since it sounds like you have been beating the ***** off of it

you might also want to check your release fork
(the part that pivots between the slave cyl and the TOB)

I'll check it all. I just bought An Act clutch kit: #AI4-HDSS, and Got me a Spoon flywheel while I was at it.

I really think it's the throwout bearing though. Thats why it clicks at idle when I kick in the clutch... And yeah - I stopped driving the car temporarily.
