Default Most bump for the least weight

thought I'd just stick to mids and highs but still just miss that bump
Anybody got any ideas on speakers that aren't going to weight down my ride. thought about amping the 6X9's but, don't know how good that'll sound
just wanting a decent sound nothing that gonna break the pavement.
Trying to save weight for the drag strip.

How much sound are you trying to get? How much money are you trying to spend?

money's not really an option. Don't really want something that I have to remove cause you never know when you might run up on something at a red light or on the interstate. I want something permanent. Sound... probably the sound of a 10" kicker. And body ever used a bass cannon? wondered if theylre any count.
Like a 8" or 6.5"

I would recommend an JL 8w3v2, those things really make a good bit of noise for how small they are, or maybe 2 of them, you can make a small sealed box and I promise no one will ever believe you when you say you only have two 8's

free air woofers are normally a bit smaller on the magnets right? could try a free air woofer built into the tire well area, or even possibly on the deck lid. I would replace the 6x9s with on single 10" Free air sub on the deck lid, and just run front components. would get much better bass response. And if you can, it would sound much better if you put the components in kick panels, so you get a nice front stage

If 50 pounds is going to slow you down that much, then get more power.

if you want bass without the box, an infinite baffle setup is the way to go. The trade off is of course, won't be as loud.

You're going to have to give up ~50lbs eventually

now that i just noticed you said that, and that money is no object, get a new flywheel and some light wheels, and the weight of a hug box is overcome with lessened rotational mass. You have to decide what you want. Is being super light important to you, or do you want nice sound? You can have both, but if you want good audio don't expect the car to weight just as much as it did stock, it will weigh more, like 100lbs more with a simple set-up. I have a small sealed box and two amps, with components up front, i bet it would cost me all of about 5 hundreths of a second in a quarter mile, but probably not. if money is no object, do a real audio setup using accepted methods and good installation techniques. then turbo your car. then you won't have any problems.

amping some good 6x9's is a good idea.
i have heard some fuccin auesome stock systems with 6x9's..like my friends new altima with the bose system. bass hits pretty damn good for stock. imagine my eclipse head unit for sale, a good 2 channel amp, and some bad *** 6x9's..you can even buy my diamond audio's for sale to get great sq

forreal tho 6x9's doesn't sound like a bad idea. go to the dealer and ask to sit in the altima with the bose sound system that has 6x9's in the back. turn up the bass **** a lil. and imagine..that's only off the head unit.

I'd definatley steer you toward one 10" or two 8"'s, A free-air sub probly won't give you the bass you're trying to get...It is an option but make it an all out last resort option.

I got 2 pioneer impp's in my nissan altima. I have to admit they do sound good and they were cheap but, I think it has a lot to do w/ the box they're in. I don't want a heavy *** box in my civic. Anyways, thanks for all your help. I think I'm gonna go w/ some infinity kappa 6x9's and amp 'em. They got some great bass for being 6x9's. Almost as loud as the 2 impp 10's in the alty.
