I have a similar set-up in my cars, a Glock 17 w/17rnd mag in the Accord, and a Glock 26 in the R (lighter weight/smaller).

How much can I get the Colt AR-15 for these days?

I used to fire the AR-15 and AK47 at the range. They are beautiful guns.
I also fired a Vietnam era M16A1 back in Thailand also.....

The original price when purchased 5 yrs ago was around $7-800. Since then, the price went up above 1 grand. Not sure if its still legal to buy assault rifle in states though..

LOL.

As a proud owner of both... an AK-47 is a piece of ****. Ok, mine is Chinese, but my buddy's East German isn't much better. It's clearly something out of the 40's.

However, that said...

"The AK-47. When you absolutely, positively must kill every ************ in the room - accept no substitutes." Samuel L. Jackson in "Jackie Brown".

The intimidation factor of my tanker/paratrooper folding stock AK-47, alone would make it a great theft deterent for the ITR. Oooops! Except brandishing a weapon (particularly an "assault weapon" here in CA) is a felony...

Yeah they are still on sale in the states, but Colt has made so many modifications to it like taking off the bayonet lug, filling in the gap in the M16 lower receiver so that you can't convert it to full auto etc....darn.

I've picked up the shotgun times and various gun mags and they are still on sale. I wouldn't mind buying a used pre ban AR15 though.

In NYC where i live assault style rifles are banned, but in Long Island they are still legal

dont you live in California where all assault guns are banned?

But they are cool though. I think AK47's are way more reliable than M16s
M16's are a pain in the butt to maintain. But AK47's can be beat up upon and still fire.
You can even fire an AK47 under water!!!!
But with the M16, it'll jam

You have got to be kidding me. As far as maintaining issues are concerned, i wouldnt have a clue about maintaining an AK47 but the M-16/AR-15 are very easy to clean. Takes a lil under 5 mins to strip gun, clean, oil, and reassemble for me. I shot an AK a while back and only thing i remember was the expanded gas fumes going straight into my nostril after each pull of trigger Kicked like a mule too..
