Default LS endlinks with ITR swaybars (front and rear)

I just picked up a used ITR/GSR front swaybar for my LS. I know that the endlinks are different between the models but how? Will the LS endlinks work anyway?

I also have the same question regarding my future ITR rear bar upgrade. Everything I have read says that I need the ITR endlinks, but do I really? Why can't I just get the ITR swaybar, BSQ (or equiv.) kit, bushings, and just reuse my old LS endlinks?

Thanks in advance for your responses.

I do know that the front endlinks are different on the RS/LS from the GS-R. So, I'm fairly certain that you will need to use the GS-R endlinks with the Type-R/GS-R front swaybar. I can check my Helms manual tonight to confirm this and let you know.

You can use the stock rear endlinks. There is no need to purchase the Type-R rear endlinks. FYI, if you refer to my Type-R rear swaybar installation instructions ( http://www.geocities.com/bretq/swaybar_install.html ), you will see that there is no mention of needing to use the Type-R rear endlinks.

Thanks for your input guys. BSQ, I'd appreciate if you could look into the front endlinks for me. I unfortunately don't have a Helms manual.

Thank you!

I don't think he needs new endlinks for the front. the only difference is the bar itself is thicker. The rear he will need different endlinks and your kit or a similar set-up.

BSQ, do you know whether or not the type r uses different rear endlinks? If so, do you know the difference/purpose of design? Thanks in advance.

Ok, I just checked the Helms manual and you cannot use the LS front endlink with the GS-R/Type-R front swaybar. The reason why, is because the hole at the end of the LS swaybar that connect the endlink to the control arm is in vertical position. But the hole at the end of the GS-R/Type-R swaybar is in horizontal position. Also the endlinks are different, because the GS-R/Type-R uses a stabilizer linkage which can pivot, whereas the LS uses a straight bolt and four bushings. I hope that I have explained this well enough. If not, I could scan the Helms manual and post the image for clarification.

Can you elaborate on why you say he will need different endlinks? I personally do not know of any reason why he would need to purchase different rear endlinks.

The Type-R does have different endlinks, but the only difference between the Type-R rear endlink and the non-Type-R endlink is the stiffness of the small bushing which is attached to the endlink. But if you look at the bushing on the endlink you will notice that it is not very big at all. Therefore, there would be very little advantage to upgrading to the Type-R endlinks. BTW, the Type-R endlinks cost $40 for the pair.

FWIW, I actually have a pair of Type-R endlinks that I have never installed because the bushing was the only difference. If anyone would like to buy them I would be more than willing to sell them.

Thanks for your help BSQ. I really appreciate you doing the research for me. It looks like its time for me to accumulate some more parts! By the way, your ITR rear bar installation kit only runs $20.00? Can I order one from you with a money order (I don't have a Paypal account)? Let me know.

Thanks again

Another question........

Can anyone give me a PN for polyurethane sway bar bushings for the ITR rear bar, that will fit in the ITR brackets? Can I use my 22mm poly bushings from my old LS FRONT bar, or will they not fit in the brackets for the rear?

Thanks guys.

Yes, you can send me a money order for my BSQ mounting kit. I can email you the information for ordering with an email.

I'm not aware of a polyurethane swaybar bushing for the Type-R rear swaybar. I'm not sure if you are aware of it, but the Type-R rear swaybar bushing is 5x stiffer than the stock rubber bushings, so it should be compareable in stiffness to the polyurethane bushing.

You may give the polyurethane 22mm front swaybar bushing a try. It will fit the diameter of the swaybar, but it may or may not fit the shape of the swaybar bracket. It's worth a try.
