Default compression question

what would a thin head gasket that makes compression a little higher do to an all motor engine?

you kind of answered your own question. putting a thinner head gasket on any engine will increase compression...

At std. bore on a B series motor (81mm) you can expect ~0.25:1 for every 0.010" you remove (about 1 layer). It will bump up your compression a hair but the gains aren't going to be anything at all. I personally will only raise or lower a motors compression via pistons or swapping cylinder heads in some cases. Just my $0.02 tho
