Poor Man's ICE-BOX
Using existing parts from you'r Type-R. You will need to remove the resonator box from under the passenger fender well. Then using the most important tool of all "The Dremel" cut the resonator box in half using a cutting pad. Inside you will notice a tube that looks like an Comptech Ice-box tube. The tube actually already attaches to the under side of your Intake box. Now that the tube is out if the resonator box remove the air intake box aswell. Then take both items and drill four small holes were they connect together so you can zip tie them together. So they do not come apart. Note: only zip tie them together when the air box is back in the car, so you may hook the tube to the bottom of the intake box easier. Rather than trying to put it in the car with it all together. Here are some pics for you to enjoy. One option is to get a k&n replacemant filter & also a metal intake tube.

Anyway, what do you think of it?

There was a similar piece, a "kit" called the Icetake that you could buy that was basically the same thing as this available awhile back. It lost power on every ITR dyno I saw.
I believe it could have gains on non-ITRs, but not on an ITR.

BSQ's DIY icebox was dyno'd on an ITR and showed an average of 1-2hp loss vs. the stock intake. However I'm sure it would help on a non-R, when comparing to a stock non-R intake.

that was going to be my follow up argument

That's good idea. I also did the intake pipe from front bumper to air box. I think this system may get more cold and fresh air. But it just good for racing, not good for slow car. When you go 100km/hr, put your hand to outside. You will feel that hard.
