What is making the TSX K24 put out more hp that the crv? Different head, cams and ecu?

Whats the torque rating on that motor?

Do comptech have a roots type blower for it I wonder?

 

The TSX motor produce 166 ft. lbs of torque compared to 162 for the CRV engine.


In terms of differences, honda raised compression to 10.5:1, as well as increased redline (7100 rpm), and a requirement of premium fuel.

 

now think about this if you gona do a swap.

in cali some people have issues because a b20 is from a crv its considered a truck motor so it wont ever be legal in a car. but most people dont care....

but i was thinking about this since the TSX has the k24 also. so it could be considered a car engine meaning it can be bar'd...

b20 is an old prelude engine too so just tell them its from a prelude and not a crv.

I'm just wondering if the TSX has a different head, compression ratio and ecu which makes the increased HP difference from the CRV K24?

uMmm no, we were talking about the k-series..and yes, what u and everyone else said before you, does amount for the extra hp.

when we were talking about the b-series motor was because, pornstarSR brought up an interesting idea about cali emissions, because the b20 is found in the 1st gen CRV... which would be considered a TRUCK (SUV)... therefore, we jump to 2004... where the k24 is found in the CRV AND TSX... it theoretically wouldn't pass emissions. thats why we brought up the b20 engine.

and to answer your question...no one knows for sure yet. probably a tad bit higher compression.

as of now all the K series motors are so new no one has specs widely available like for B's

like think this...the K20R...rsx type R...is the head slightly ported like the b18R?

no one knows yet. as far as I have heard.

but they are selling the k20R intake manifolds on options website already so maybe those are different.

now you're mixing the engines

the guy is asking about k24.

here's a basic rundown of the K-series so FAR.

dc5 itr = k20a
rsx-s/ ctr = k20a2
rsx base/ep3 = k20a3
crv/tsx/accord/element = k24
-----tsx 200hp = k24 + rsx-s head (why you may ask? because, that's how honda engines work, its like plug and play. you stick a high flow head (rsx-s head) on a 'tamed' engine (k24 160hp version), then you get a untamed high hp car ---&gt; tsx(k24 but with 200hp) &lt;---- get it? i use the term tamed/untamed liberally.

we'll make it in older terms.

 

I think the Pistons is what gives it a higher compression, along with the higher HP#'s.
