My battery and break light come on at the same time and go off? 5th gen
I just put a turbo on my 98 prelude, and after i put it on, i noticed every once in a while the break and battery light would turn on and off at the same time. now its on and hasnt turned off all day. What could this be. The break fluid isnt low and the battery doesnt seem like its dieing cause it starts. The only wires i messed with was the injector power wire for the inline reisistors, and there not touching. And the SAFC goes to the ECU which it could be that but i highly doubt because i was really careful installing it.
What could it be?

check your brake fluid level and tail lights, both will trip the dash brake light.
as for your battery light I would check to make certain that your alternator cable is torqued down, the battery light is actually an "idiot light" for the charging system, kinda like the oil light...eg. if your oil light is on you have little or no oil, then if your battery light is on your alternator is not well connected or is about to take a dump. good luck.

By any chance are you running an open wastegate which fires near the alternator? I turboe'd my 97' and drove it for the first time this week and had the same problem.
In my case, I didn't have time to make a dumptube and the exhaust gas was firing close to the alternator which seems to have fried the voltage regulator. I didn't even realize that anything was wrong until my battery was drained.

I went to advanced auto to have the battery and altenator tested. It turned out that the battery and altenator both went bad. Go figure.
