what brand amp's are good?
This is like asking what car brands are good...you'll always find out the good cars cost more.
You have Zapco, ads, MMATS, PPI, Alpine, Xtant, JBL-Crown, JL, etc.

I assume, by your description, that you have an Infinity Kappa Perfect 12. If that is correct, then rms for your sub is 350w. I'd recommend a Precision Power PCX-480. It puts down 320w, bridged, at 4ohm. This amp doesn't recommed running a 2ohm load, when bridged mono, so if your sub is a 2ohm model, this amp isn't for you.
I run a single Kappa Perfect 10 with this same amp (also 350w rms), and it's great -- the amp never clips or distorts. Plus, as far as amps go, it looks great.
http://www.etronics.com has them for $239 ( http://www.etronics.com/produc...d=306 )
and here's one on eBay for $159 : http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISA...18796
and another for $185: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISA...18796

the new jbl-crown is a monster. I want it..... for a welder......
i personally like alpine's sub amps. I have the entry level amp and it hits real real nice on my 10" w3. gains are super down too. no where near clipping either

virtually all opinions here are very generalized statements about companies who make multiple product lines at various price points. It's not that simple just to say PG makes a good amp....in the last three years, they have made a total of at least 5 product lines...

For getting Volume and Overall Sound Quality I'd say JL all the way, the Slash series of amps is rock solid, and the e series are essentially the same amp but with no regulated power supply, and far less EQ features. They did have a recall on a big batch of the E-series because they set the temp protect to low and the amps were all going into protect.
If you are just trying to get good sound quality and not so much worried about high volumes, then I'd ask you to look at Boston Accoustics new GT line of amps. Those things are so much nice for Sound Quality than any other amps in even double the price range! But they will not Slam a 12 like a JL 500/1.

Right now, I think my eyes are setting on a JL 500/1 amp. I hear alot of good stuff about that. Im trying to get one from a person on this board right now. But I have no replies from that person yet.
