Default how hot does the distributor run?

under extreme load,

how hot would the distributor (the rotor) in particular run? anyone have any numbers to throw around?

I was planning to threadlock the distributor rotor screw, whether or not thats over kill, another story. I just dont want the threadlock to exhasterbate the situation if it runs hot hot hot.

TIA

It doesnt need any threadlocker, or at least I didnt add any the last time I changed the rotor.

Adding the wrong (too strong) of a threadlocker will make you strip the screw the next time you change the rotor.

Ditch the thread lock idea Soup, it's just not necessary. Many people have changed their rotors and not used lock on the little screw, have you ever heard someone say that their rotor came off inside the cap?

Oh, and the service manual doesn't say to use any either (for you Honda service manual ****'s...)

Did you get it running yet or what?

The rotor itself actually snapped off.

Did they use threadlocker?

I dont know how hot it gets inside the dizzy. If you use a weak thread locker and it gets hot, it may just back out by itself.

It gets 'very' hot in there.
Thread lock is not needed.
Tighten the rotor bolt by hand (with a good tipped screwdriver and you are done.

Not tight enough =

I had the screw come loose, it whacked my ICM pretty good, and cracked the case. Those ignition control modules are pretty damn expensive, if someone has a spare one kicking around and wants to sell it for a *cheap* price, PM me

Just use the CORRECT SIZE screw driver. Screws get stripped because people arent using the right size screwdriver. Ive never had a problem and dont use any thread lock.
