Hmmm...Another CRAZY Idea
Despite the fact that most of you think I'm a complete nutcase, another crazy idea has just crossed my mind. I think it would be completely bad *** if someone built a twin engine ITR. A B18C5 up front, and another in the back.
There have been several successful attempts with other chassis' making rear engine vehicles, so why not do it with an ITR. And instead of relocating the engine, just get another one and run with both of them. Twin Engine cars have had mixed success in the past, but the successful ones have been hardcore. I'm thinking that you would set it up just like a rear engine car, except run them both off of the same engine management with two throttle cables coming off of the gas pedal and a shift linkage that goes both ways, or a custom computerized hydraulic shifter assembly that controled both tranny's. With some decent engineering skills and a damn good fabricator, this could be a very realistic possibility. In theory, there shouldn't be any serious issues. I'm thinking run one really big battery, or a series of smaller ones. Wire the starters to function together and it's possible to run the entire setup through an engine management setup for a V8 rather than two inline 4's. If you really get to thinking about it, there isn't really any system on the car that couldn't be rearranged in some way to work in tandem with an identical system. And being that it wouldn't be functioning off of a Honda ECU, you can probably get away with most, if not all, of it without issues. The only really major issue that I can think of would be a crankshaft position sensor, but I've heard of running separate crankshaft position sensors to control separate cylinder banks before so I'm sure it's an issue that can be dealt with.
Naturally, something like this wouldn't be streetable, but I'm thinking rally car. I'm sure at first there would be issues with keeping the wheels spinning at equal rates but some measure of research should reveal a solution as twin engine setups have been done before and I'm sure they dealt with similar issues. Turning shouldn't be a problem due to LSD being equipped both front and back.
In reality, this is a very realistic possibility, the only constraints being time and money (a setup like this is sure to use plenty of both). I'm not suggesting that I or anyone else try it. I just wanted to toss it up on the table and get some feedback as to what people would think of a twin engine ITR.

someone did it to a tiburon and it ran 10 second passes on the 1/4 mile
i'd think it would be easier to manage the shifting on a cable shifter like the H22 or K20

You can do ANYTHING with the right amount of time and money
I'll throw in a fiver

sinc we're talking crazy ****.. i say just drop a v8 in there.. don't know if its possible to fit a v8 inside integra, i wonder if its possible to fit v8 block inside accord.

Hey now, not just any single cam. This is the almighty CX engine.

I have seen someone make a 2 door late model accord, rear wheel drive, pro street, tubbed, caged, small block chevy, and th-350 auto tranny. with 150 shot.
It was running in mid 6's in the 1/8th.
Pretty wild, had lots of lookers

There's a dude around here that has a RWD CRX with a V8 swapped in, apparently it's street legal too. If it'd fit in a CRX, it has to fit in an Integra.
