Default Removing the back seat as pertains to performance...

I am saving all of my money right now to turbo my ls, so i am all over inexpensive mods (the good ones). I am thinking of taking my back seat out. I never take more than one person with me. I like the look of it. I think it would look totall pimp in my room too.

two questions:

1)do you have to get something to cover up the place where the back seat used to be and are there bolts or anything sticking up?

2)is it worth it performance wise, can you really tell a difference (probably not)? i heard it weighs about 70 pounds.

Question 1:
You can take the back cloth off the seats (by pulling off the plastic tabs), and will cover where the seats were.
Here is what i mean by the tabs... http://hogens.com/car/default....x.php

Question 2:
The seats weigh about 30 pounds! by themselves they probably will not do a whole lot for weight savings, but every little bit helps.

yea no where near 70, i would say 30 is more reasonable. if your looking to start saving some weight, thats a great place to start, some other nice places to look are
sound deading
rear wiper
power steering components
get a lighter hood
lighter seats
spare tire
jack
just some ideas

You won't feel any noticeable difference when taking out the rear seats. Those things really only weight about 15 lbs. They're made of mostly foam and plastic.

Can you tell a difference in your between a full and a half tank of gas? That's about the difference it would make.

I personally felt no difference with my rear seats out. I just kept mine in. Maybe if you removed alot more things, that would work better for weight reduction.

Put it this way. If you taker ou thte back seats and front seats, and get racing seats for the front, you WILL notice a difference
