Type R or Evo 8
im just askin u guys that have type Rs would u sell your R and get an evo 8. the problem for me is that im scared shitless of driving it around now, it might get stolen or i might get followed home but an evo isnt such a hot item to steal so i wouldnt have to worry about it as much, then again an evo is no type R...lets here what u guys have to say?

see my sig,
I did exactly what you just said.....trade my ITR for the Evo
Part of the reason for me to do that is because of theft concern.....btw, I didn't check my rear view mirror since I drove the evo 5 weeks ago.

as you said...evo is not ITR. Although the evo has pretty good connection with the driver but the R still have more if compare to it. As for handling they are different kinds in between them.....I track and do lots of autox in my ITR but i havent do that on my evo so I dont want to common on that area too soon (btw, i will go autx tmr and track it in june)
the car is much faster, of course. I can tell you sometimes it scared me a little when I try to go a little fast on hwy. I think I have to adjust the way I drive when I go to the track....I probaby have to slow down a little in the first 2 day on track
other benefit will be less worry to park on street....the only thing i kinda worry is somebody try to steal the CF wing....also the evo is cheaper on insurance, at least for now.
on the negative side....parts is more expensive, for example, a set of front rotor will cost you ~200. ITR is only 50 at autozone, not to mention 17 vs 15 on wheels and tires
right now is the best time to buy evo (03 model) as many dealer still have them in the lots since Mits think the evo will be a big hit (like the movie 2F2F) but look like they are wrong. I bought mine under invoice.
btw....there's a rumor saying Mits will bring the MR version (with ACD&Super AYC) to US next year....it will be interesting if it's true

most people here want the evo cuz they never had an R. i will never trade in my R for an evo. yeah i know they are faster(AWD..off the line) but the enjoyment of the R is much better. Most R owners hopefully would agree. Evo is a very eqiuped machine but its no type r my friend.

i concur. r's staying with me forever. however, i'll add other cars to the stable.

Well to answer your 1st question, I would pay off the R THEN get an Evo.
. #2, yes the R is a theft magnet and yep you should be scared sh!tless to park it places. The only way to get rid of that paranoia is to get a beater. The Evo is no Type r nor the Type r no Evo...totally different. When I had just the R, I loved to give my friends a ride and let some drive it. Just so they KNOW what its all about. Forget about the hype. Forget about the rave reviews. Just DRIVE it. And all of them had smiles on their faces...loved that expression. Now w/ the Evo, I do the same thing. Except this time their smiles seem to be
instead. lol. Point being, You cant go wrong with either of these machines. They both get
in my book.

As mentioned above, the two vehicles are two entirely different animals, both on the street and on the track. I own an R, and have quite a bit of time behind the wheel of an Evo. Both are capable cars, but I like the raw feeling of the R as compared to the Evo. As for trading it, no, I have too many plans right now.
