The heads only have insignificant differences.

I don't know about the heads..... But the engines aren't much different either. Basically they are exactly the same block and whatever but the h22a has a honda port and polish, higher compression pistons, higher compression head gasket, and I think thats it. The H22 A4 is open deck and the A1 is closed deck. (I think) It could be the other way around

holy crackpipe...no one was talking about the type-s motor. JDM standard motors have slightly higher comp pistons but nothing else special.

Thanks guys. I was pretty sure that there was no significant difference in the heads. But i was just curious because i have a jdm head going on my a4 bottom end.

Oh and you are correct ludemazter the a4 is open deck and the a1 is closed deck.

I had thought that part of the reason why the Type-S camshaft didn't work as well on the USDM heads is that our valve angle is different than the JDM market heads.

Hold on... The 98 and up head is different. Especially with the LMA's. The casting is deeper so the Correct LMA's MUST BE USED. The head is slightly smaller as well and the intake manifold studs are just slightly different. If you use the 98 head with an older manifold, you will have to enlarge the bolt holes slightly. I have seen manifolds crack when they are tightened up without enlarging the holes. Other than that, the ports are slightly better having a flatter short turn radius, which promotes slighty better flow.

Where did you get that i directly asked ludemazter anything? I saw what satan posted. This setup is what i have, not what i want and was just curious to know if it was better in any way. So next time read the posts a little better next time.
