I may be buying a DC JDM 4-1 S/S header for my JDM ITR, i'm running the stock OE JDM cat with a Fujitsubo LegalisR cat back system, and i like the way thats its not loud and boomy with a nice 'sporty' note from it. On my last jdm Si integra i fitted a c/c DC 4-1 to OE cat and mugen sport exhaust (old skool) and it got a fair bit louder after fitting the DC4-1 but I realise due the the milder steel of the ceramic that it doesnt supress noise as well as a s/s one. has anyone noticed any major noise gains after fitting a Dc s/s header to a relatively quiet stock or aftermarket exhaust cat back system?
If you already have the JDM OEM header, it's not worth "upgrading" it to the DC JDM. Won't make a noticeable difference.

My car is a 1996 ITR so its the 4-2-1 cast header not the 98Spec header. Another thing that concerned me is that 4-1 headers are more for top end gain, i find (comapred to my last JDM Si-VTEC) that low-mid end power of the ITR is weakish (top end rocks!!!) so would i be losing out on even more low-mid end power with a 4-1, if i am then i think i'll just stick with the stock OE itme till something better comes along!

The 96 version is what all of the USDM cars here originally came with, and the "98 Spec" header has proven to be a siginificant improvement ofer the 96 4-2-1.
You won't necessarily lose any "more" low end power than you presently have with the 96 version since the power/torque of the 98+ 4-1 headers show an increase across the rev range even though they may show the best improvement at the top of the rev range.
This is a link to an objective comparison of a number of header brands when compared to stock (USDM 4-2-1, used with an SMSP 2 1/2 cat back).

The JDM '96 4-2-1 header is a completely different header compared to the USDM 4-2-1 header. You can see that in "HyperRev". The cast iron upper part is different (bigger) and the collector is 65 mm (2.5").
