Default Standard Operating Temperature

Anyone happen to know the average operating temps of a honda? Specifically a prelude. Not having much luck finding this.

The stock temp gauge on the 4th gen preludes is *** if you already didn't know. I just wanna keep a better eye on it and was gonna get a water temp or oil temp gauge and wanted to know what remp range to get.

thanks,

P.S. Which gauge would be more beneficial? water or oil temp for monitoring engine temps?

thanks,
crate

p.s. was also just thinking.. oil has more "surface" to it so it disperses heat much faster correct? so water would prolly work better tapping into the water hose from the head to the radiator? ehh. not sure.

and i did some searching on the site, didnt really find that pertinent info.

thanks

Default Re: Standard Operating Temperature (Crate)

someone correct me if i'm wrong, but i believe all honda temp sensors are set to activate the cooling process at 208 degrees F.

i believe spoon makes a thermo sensor that makes it start happening (i.e fan comes on at) 176 degrees F i think spoons thermo sensor is for all d, b and h series motors.

IMO i want to know what the oil temp is before the water but the more information the marrier. good luck
