Opinions on my buildup of 94 VX HB.
I have basically all but gotten the car, just waiting on my wife's uncle to do his thing (he owns a Toyo dealership in Selinsgrove, PA)........I am definately doing a motor swap and have a good idea of the direction I want to go, what I am curious is your opinions on my planned route and what kind of expected HP/Tourque numbers I could expect with proper tuning and the likes. It will be built for NA. My needs are for street quickness, reliability, and good MPG as it will be a daily driver for about 80miles round trip to work.
The Plan: Use a B18C block, CTR pistons & rods, lower compression head gasket(undecided on that one), B16A Head, ITR valve train, Toda B Spec cams, ITR intake manifold, lightened flywheel (not too much though), ITR throttle body, either a ITR tranny or I will custom build mine for the best 1-4 gearing for street, and a good 5th and FD for fuel economy, JDM, 4-1 header, Apexi WS exhaust, test pipe (shhh), P28 ECU with Mugen programming, V-AFC, and ACT 2600lb clutch, and the normal suspension mods.
The result:????????????????????????????

Some thoughts though. CTR rods might not be necesary. If you already have the block, you can just have the bottom end balanced. You could also get the rods, deburred or whatever you call it. The lower compression head gasket would not be necessary as well. You will actually want more compression to help out the cams as well. With the spec B cams you are going to need more than the ITR valvetrain, at least on the inner springs. Portflow works well for the springs and retainers.
Try and make sure to run OBD1. I know people say that theres no difference between 1 and 2 , but I think there is. How else do you explain the results I have had with so little mods. Also there are other alternatives to the Mugen ECU program. Little known EL Prototypes has worked great for me.
With some experience ad slicks, you'll be in the 12's easy.

that was actually a mistype on my part now that I actually read my post........I was meaning a thinner headgasket to raise compression...........I really, really, really got to work on my typing skills!
