Default Honda's new universal filter... raise oil pressure?

Now that Honda has gone to the new smaller filter that fits nearly all of their models, I was wondering if this was maybe intended to, or just plain will slightly increase oil pressure... I have read about integra guys getting really small filters to do this.

And on the other sde of that, will using a larger s2000 filter slightly lower it you think?

Any thoughts?

thanks.

With all honesty, i can't see how a smaller filter raises oil pressure?!?!?! Maybe someone can give a logical explanation.

it could raise oil pressure by not letting in as much oil as quickly as a larger one would and therefore creating a sort of "backpressure" so it creates more oil pressure. thats how i see it.

No. The size of an oil filter changing oil presure doesn't make any sense at all.

The bypass in the oil pump regulates pressure coming out of the pump. Any filter has some amount of pressure loss thru itself. So the oil pressure after it comes thru the filter depends on how much restriction it sees in the filter.

But the size of the metal can doesn't really count. It's the size, material, orientation, etc... of the actual filter media.

It's been debated to death in h-t

the newer filter does not increase oil pressure.

the galleries are still the same, it just the filter area got smaller, which could not be the best thing.
